About the project
Reveille is a digital version of a display typeface designed by Krzysztof Kochnowicz, in the nineteen eighties for the Mecanorma competition. The designer bore in mind dry transfer technology back then. The current project tries to preserve the pop-culture atmosphere of those years. Vintage character is enriched by a number of borders and ornaments inspired by graphics and fashion of the time. It is an unambiguous (yet distanced) reference to the golden age of disco music. Reveille is designed as a two-layer font. This allows to create unlimited color variations in use. The fonts include capitals, a rich set of stylistic alternates, ligatures and abbreviations.
